Flight Attendant Union Reaches Tentative Agreement With United Airlines January 8th, 2012
WASHINGTON, Jan. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — United Airlines Flight Attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA (AFA), successfully reached a tentative agreement with management today for 15,000 pre-merger United Flight Attendants. The agreement was reached with oversight from the National Mediation Board (NMB) through expedited mediation with airline management.
“There can be no doubt that if it were not for the clear commitment of United Flight Attendants in supporting our elected leadership and negotiating committee, we would not have been able to achieve these results. Pending leadership approval, the United AFA members will carefully consider the tentative agreement for ratification. Together, we will better our lives and our profession through our solidarity as we work towards improving our future. Next, we will achieve a Single Contract that is good for Flight Attendants, good for the company and unite us all,” said Greg Davidowitch, president of AFA at United Airlines.
The Agreement is now subject to approval by the United Master Executive Council (MEC), made up of the locally elected leaders from the 14 United Flight Attendants domiciles. The MEC will meet in a special session on Sunday, January 8, 2012. Until that time, full details of the Tentative Agreement will not be made public. If approved by the MEC, the Tentative Agreement will be sent to the Membership for careful consideration and ratification.

American Airlines Announces TWU Fleet Service Tentative Agreement October 26th, 2011
FORT WORTH, Texas, Oct. 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — American Airlines and the Transport Workers Union (TWU) have reached a tentative agreement in principle for the Fleet Service and Ground Service employees. This tentative agreement provides American’s Fleet Service and Ground Service employees with increased compensation and other enhancements such as additional holidays, sick time and vacation.
The tentative agreement also gives American additional productivity and better aligns American’s work rules with all other airlines through outsourcing the dayline cabin cleaning and fueling work. The employees currently performing these jobs will be reassigned to other duties. The productivity improvements and savings provided through the outsourcing helps fund the structural increases and other economic enhancements, while ensuring that American remains competitive.
Both parties put a significant amount of time and effort into the negotiating process to reach an agreement that recognizes the interests of American’s TWU-represented employees and the company. This agreement is a significant step in our efforts to achieve the competitive costs that are critical to our future success.

United And The International Brotherhood Of Teamsters Return To Negotiations September 8th, 2011
CHICAGO, Sept. 2, 2011 United Continental Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: UAL) and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) today are announcing an agreement to return to negotiations in advance of mediation scheduled with the National Mediation Board in November.
During these negotiations the company and IBT will focus on reaching an agreement covering the approximately 4,700 technicians at the United Airlines subsidiary.
United and Continental employ more than 8,300 technicians who are represented by the Teamsters. Continental technicians ratified their collective bargaining agreement in November 2010.
The Teamsters Union and United Airlines Inc. have reached a tentative agreement on a contract for the 5,500 aircraft technicians and related employees throughout the U.S., Teamsters General President James P. Hoffa announced today. This is the first contract negotiated by the Teamsters for the group since the workers voted to join the union in March 2008.
“This tentative agreement marks the start of new day for United mechanics,” Hoffa said. “This contract makes significant gains in a number of key areas where our members felt they had lost ground in previous contracts. Our negotiating team made addressing these areas their number one priority and did an outstanding job.”
Details of the contract will not be released until after it has been presented to and reviewed by the membership in the coming weeks. The union’s negotiation team is currently working on the scheduling of membership meetings and securing a date for the ratification vote.
“This is a historic step in the continuing merger process of United and Continental Airlines,” said Airline Division Director David Bourne. “I would like to congratulate and commend the hard work and dedication of the union negotiating team, and also want to acknowledge the positive working relationship exhibited by United’s management and negotiators during this two-year process.”
