Hertz Leads the Industry in Solar Energy — Further Expansion in 2011 February 13th, 2011
PARK RIDGE, NJ — (MARKET WIRE) — 02/10/2011 –The Hertz Corporation (NYSE: HTZ) announced it is installing over 2.3 MW of solar PV systems at sixteen locations across the U.S. in the first phase of the company’s solar initiative.
“Hertz is committed to reducing costs and to sustainable business practices. Investing in solar energy for these facilities makes good business sense,” said Mark Frissora, Hertz Chairman and CEO. “We will now look to additional facilities in the US and internationally to further this important program. Once again, Hertz is leading the industry in our commitment to innovation.”
Hertz has already completed construction of a 235 kW solar electric system located at Denver International Airport. This system is expected to produce 342,766 kWh of AC output and will offset approximately 650,000 pounds of CO2 annually.
By Q3 2011, Hertz will complete construction of fifteen additional facilities across the United States to further reduce its energy costs and offset Hertz’s carbon footprint. Hertz is installing solar systems in facilities in Arizona, California, Colorado, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
“Hertz leads the industry in sustainable practices,” said Richard Broome, Senior Vice President of Hertz. “From our commitment to electric vehicles and other low emission vehicles to our implementation of reduced water usage and now our solar program, we are at the forefront of integrating sound environmental practices with pro-consumer service, efficiency and growth strategies.”
Hertz Rent2Buy Program Partners With AirTran Airways February 9th, 2011
ORLANDO, Fla. and PARK RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 8, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. and The Hertz Corporation’s online car sales program, Hertz Rent2Buy, announced today a new partnership to enable customers to earn free* flights while getting a great deal on a vehicle.
The program provides 16 AirTran Airways A+ Rewards credits, redeemable for a round- trip coach ticket valid to any AirTran Airways destination, to A+ Rewards members purchasing a vehicle through Hertz Rent2Buy.
“As long-time partners, Hertz is excited to add an additional level of benefits to its AirTran A+ Rewards partnership,” commented Bob Stuart, Senior Vice President, Global Sales, Hertz. ”A+ Rewards members who purchase a vehicle through Hertz’ online car sales program, Rent2Buy, will be able to travel on the ground in a quality, used car, while traveling the skies for free* with A+ Rewards credits from Hertz.”
Hertz Rent2Buy is an online car sales program that allows customers to reserve a rental car they may want to buy for a three-day test drive. Used car shoppers visit www.hertzrent2buy.com and select the car of their choice at a convenient Hertz location. Customers have full use of the vehicle for up to three days. A customer who chooses to purchase the vehicle simply keeps the car and pays the listed price without any haggling, and the rental fee, other than any fee for optional products purchased, is waived. For customers who choose to purchase the car, competitive finance options are available to simplify the payment process. If the customer decides not to purchase the car, the vehicle is returned to the rental location and the transaction is treated as a standard rental.
“AirTran Airways is proud to build on our long-standing partnership with The Hertz Corporation for this one-of-a-kind program that allows our A+ Rewards members to get a great deal on a car while earning A+ Rewards credits for a free* flight,” said Tad Hutcheson, AirTran Airways’ Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “We see this as a win-win for our most loyal customers.”
AirTran Airways and The Hertz Corporation have been partners since 1993. Hertz became the exclusive rental car partner of AirTran Airways in 1997. AirTran is the first airline to partner with Hertz on the Rent2Buy program.
